Introduction of LCAT
LUMS Common Admission Test
The LUMS
Common Admission Test (LCAT) is mandatory for all applicants (except applicants
residing abroad) applying to the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) or
the School of Humanities, Social Science and Law (SHSSL).
LCAT comprises
mainly of Quantitative, Verbal, and writing sections. The test does not include
what you have studied in high school or in college. It is based on general
topics generally you studied up to grade 10. You must revise general concepts
and ideas. LCAT presents a complex question based on these ideas. Most of the
applicants prepare the test with great dedication and spare a lot of time.
Scheduling
- You must schedule to take LCAT early. Its preparation takes time and effort. Competition for LCAT is very high. You must manage your preparation plan accordingly.
- LCAT will be conducted simultaneously in designated cities in Pakistan.
- The application is considered complete when all of the requisite information and documents are on file including the test result. Your application would be considered completed if it is complete before the deadline.
LCAT Registration and Fee
Candidates can get registered online. They have to complete and submit the registration form. For online registration form LCAT Online Registration.·

passport size Photographs

photocopies of the National Identity Card or Valid Passport
· Bank Draft of Rs. 3000/- drawn in favor of LUMS or online payment status or a photocopy of bank receipt.
6. After the successful submission of online test registration form, Test Registration Cards and instructions will be posted to the applicant’s secure online application account, and an email message will alert applicants that the Test Registration Card has been posted.
7. Test Registration Cards will be
posted on applicant’s online account 5-7 days earlier than the test date.
8. Applicants are required to download and
print their Test Registration Card. Candidates without a Test Registration Card
and original NIC will NOT be allowed to take the test.
9. The exact location, test timings,
and other information will be communicated to applicants through the Test
Registration Card and LUMS website i.e www.lums.edu.pk.
MODE OF PAYMENT

payment facility is available at LUMS website http://pay.lums.edu.pk/default.asp

By
submitting a bank draft from and bank in favor of Lahore University of
Management Sciences
·
Cast
deposited at Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB) Booth at LUMS or branch located at
T-Block, D.H.A Lahore
LCAT Guidelines
·
Registration
fee should be submitted to the designated branch of MCB or through online
payment before respective LCAT deadlines.
·
Admission
office will not accept any bank receipt dated after the given deadlines.
·
Please
note that candidates who for some reason cannot get registered by the given
deadline should report at the test center at 8 am for walk-in registration.
·
Walk-in
requests will only be entertained on space available basis.
Fee
10. Applicants taking LCAT Test will pay
a total of Rs. 1500/- as Test Registration Fee in addition to the application processing
fee of Rs. 4000/-
The LCAT
has seven (7) sections, all of which are required to pass:
- Algebra
- Advanced topics
- Problem solving and data analysis
- Geometry
- English
- Reading
- Writing
LCAT Format (Structure)
The LCAT is
a multiple choice test similar to the SAT Reasoning in terms of the type of
questions. Like the SAT Reasoning, it measures reading, writing, and
mathematics skills.

Type: Multiple Choice and Paragraph Writing
The LCAT consists of seven (7) sections each of
25 minutes each. All sections are compulsory. First six (6) sections are a combination
of verbal and math sections. The last section Is of Paragraph Writing.
CRITICAL READING:
The Critical Reading (formerly Verbal) section
of the LCAT is made up of three scored sections; two 25-minute section and one 20-minute
section, with varying types of questions, including sentence completions and
questions about short and long reading passages. Critical Reading sections normally
begin with 5 to 8 sentence completion questions; the remainder of the questions
are focused on the reading passage.
SENTENCE COMPLETIONS:
Sentence completions generally test the student’s
vocabulary and understanding of sentence structure and organization by
requiring the student to select one or two words that best complete a given
sentence.
CRITICAL READING:
The bulk of the Critical Reading questions is made
up of questions regarding reading passage, in which students read short excerpts
on social sciences, humanities, physical science, or personal narratives and
answer questions based on the passage. Certain sections contain passages asking
the student to compare two related passage; generally, these consist of shorter
reading passages. The number of questions about each passage. Overall, question
sets towards the beginning of the section are easier, and question sets towards
the end of the section are harder.
